Lempäälän Energia Ltd. is a subsidiary of and wholly owned by Lempäälän Lämpö Ltd. Lempäälän Energia Ltd. produces district heating for Lempäälän Lämpö Ltd. using solid wood-based fuels such as wood chips and sawdust.
Lempäälä Energia has implemented several energy technology projects with the support of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy (MEAE). The projects aim to increase the production and use of renewable energy.
The largest of these projects is in progress at the moment - the LEMENE project (Lempäälä Energy Community), selected as a key project in energy technology by the MEAE. The project has received a grant of approximately EUR 5 million in 2017. The basic idea of the project is to build a smart and self-sufficient operating environment in Marjamäki area in Lempäälä, next to Tampere, Finland. The project will be completed in 2019.
