Under the Programme of Prime Minister Juha Sipilä’s Government, the use of renewable energy will be increased in a sustainable way so that its share will rise to more than 50 per cent during the 2020s and the self-sufficiency to more than 55 per cent. The key project is a way to help reach these goals set by the Government.
The project is also a means for Lempäälän Energia Ltd. to support Lempäälä's future program, according to which Lempäälä is "a bold pioneer" in the future and, as such, should try new things and set daring goals.
Lempäälän Energia Ltd. is a subsidiary of Lempäälän Lämpö Ltd. which is owned by the municipality of Lempäälä. The municipality of Lempäälä promotes environmental responsibility and invests in energy self-sufficiency. Lempäälä participates in an energy efficiency agreement for Finnish municipalities from 2017 to 2025. The annual energy savings objective for 2017 to 2020 is 1 per cent, and .7 per cent for 2012 to 2025.
